On 15 November 2022, the ERRAC Plenary Meeting brought together high-level representatives from the European Commission, Europe’s Rail and the railway and public transport sector. They discussed rail research priorities, sector developments and challenges to be tackled. The Plenary Meeting took place at the Transport Research Arena (TRA) Conference in Lisbon, where ERRAC also hosted a booth on the Europe’s Rail stand.
After opening words by ERRAC Chair Roland Moser, keynote speeches were provided by the European Commission’s Rosalinde van der Vlies, Director of Clean Planet (Directorate-General for Research and Innovation), Keir Fitch, Head of Unit Interoperability and Safety (DG Move), and Carlo Borghini from Europe’s Rail. It was discussed how rail is key to achieve a greener Europe, and how to put rail at the forefront of research and innovation activities in the EU.
Two announcements were made during the meeting, welcoming the new ERRAC Secretary, Marta Garcia of UNIFE, who will replace David Kupfer, as well as Marion Berbineau as new Chair of the ERRAC PAG. Marion Berbineau will replace Sebastian Stichel. Both will take up their new roles as of January – more to come on this!
Finally the Plenary also highlighted the activities from the various ERRAC Working Groups, including the recently published ERRAC Manifesto of Future Mobility and the upcoming new ERRAC logo.
ERRAC would like to thank all participants for their time and efforts!
